Caste is a groundbreaking work that explores the hidden caste system that exists in modern society. Fraser argues that caste is not simply a matter of race or ethnicity, but a complex system of social stratification that affects every aspect of our lives. He draws on a wealth of historical and sociological evidence to show how caste has shaped our institutions, our culture, and our very identities.
Fraser begins by tracing the history of caste in India, where it has been a rigid system of social hierarchy for centuries. He shows how caste has been used to justify discrimination, oppression, and violence against lower-caste people. He also shows how caste has spread to other parts of the world, including the United States, where it has been used to justify racism and white supremacy.
Fraser argues that caste is not just a historical relic, but a living system that continues to shape our world today. He shows how caste affects our access to education, housing, healthcare, and employment. He also shows how caste can lead to discrimination and violence against people of color, women, and LGBT people.
Fraser's book is a powerful and eye-opening account of the hidden caste system that exists in modern society. He provides a wealth of evidence to support his argument, and he offers a clear and concise explanation of how caste works. Caste is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the true nature of inequality in our world.
