In his memoir, From Kabul to Queens, Sherzad Arbabzada recounts his harrowing journey from his home in Kabul, Afghanistan, to the bustling streets of New York City.

Sherzad was born into a middle-class family in Kabul in 1982. His father was a teacher and his mother was a stay-at-home mom. Sherzad had a happy childhood, but his life was upended in 1996 when the Taliban took over Afghanistan.

The Taliban's strict interpretation of Islamic law made life difficult for Sherzad and his family. His father was forced to quit his job because he refused to teach the Taliban's propaganda. Sherzad and his siblings were not allowed to go to school. Women were forced to wear burqas and were not allowed to leave their homes without a male escort.

In 2001, the United States invaded Afghanistan and overthrew the Taliban. Sherzad and his family were able to flee the country and start a new life in the United States.

Sherzad and his family settled in Queens, New York. He enrolled in high school and learned English. After graduating from high school, Sherzad worked a variety of jobs before becoming a taxi driver.

Driving a taxi in New York City is a challenging job, but Sherzad loves it. He enjoys meeting people from all over the world and hearing their stories. He is also proud to be a part of the city's vibrant and diverse community.

In From Kabul to Queens, Sherzad shares his experiences as an immigrant and as a taxi driver. He writes about the challenges he has faced, the people he has met, and the lessons he has learned along the way.

From Kabul to Queens is a powerful and inspiring memoir that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit. It is a must-read for anyone interested in immigration, Afghanistan, or New York City.
