Madison, Indiana is a small town with a big history. And a lot of ghosts.
The town was founded in 1808 by John Paul, a Revolutionary War veteran. Paul named the town after James Madison, the fourth president of the United States. Madison quickly became a thriving river town, and was home to a number of wealthy families.
However, the town's prosperity was short-lived. The Civil War devastated Madison, and the town never fully recovered. In the years that followed, Madison became a quiet backwater, and its population dwindled.
But even though Madison is no longer the bustling town it once was, it still has a lot to offer visitors. The town is home to a number of beautiful historic buildings, including the Jefferson County Courthouse, the Lanier Mansion, and the Conrad Baker House.
Madison is also home to a number of friendly ghosts. These ghosts are said to be the spirits of former residents who have never left the town. Some of the most famous ghosts in Madison include:
- The ghost of Sarah Lanier, who is said to haunt the Lanier Mansion.
- The ghost of Conrad Baker, who is said to haunt the Conrad Baker House.
- The ghost of John Paul, who is said to haunt the Jefferson County Courthouse.
If you're looking for a haunted vacation, Madison, Indiana is the perfect place to visit. The town is full of history, charm, and ghosts. So come on down and see for yourself why Madison is one of the most haunted towns in America.
