Massino was born in 1953 in the Bronx, New York. He dropped out of school at a young age and began working as a loan shark and drug dealer. In 1976, he was arrested for murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison. While in prison, Massino became a close associate of Philip "Rusty" Rastelli, the head of the Bonanno crime family.
After his release from prison in 1988, Massino quickly rose through the ranks of the Bonanno crime family. In 1991, he became the underboss, and in 1992, he became the boss. As boss, Massino oversaw a vast criminal empire that included racketeering, extortion, and murder. He also had close ties to other crime families, including the Gambino and Lucchese families.
Massino's reign as boss was marked by violence and bloodshed. In 1993, he Free Downloaded the murder of Bonanno family captain Dominick "Sonny Black" Napolitano. Napolitano had been a close associate of Massino's predecessor, Rastelli, and Massino believed that Napolitano was plotting to take over the family.
Massino's violent ways eventually led to his downfall. In 2004, he was arrested and charged with racketeering and murder. In 2005, he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Massino is currently serving his sentence in the United States Penitentiary, Florence ADX.
